Caring Across Generations Responds to SCOTUS Granting Stay in Mifepristone Case

WASHINGTON D.C. – In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold FDA approval of mifepristone, Nicole Jorwic, Chief of Campaigns and Advocacy of Caring Across Generations, released the following statement:

“We are pleased with the Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold FDA approval of mifepristone. It is a welcome relief, and the fact that we came so close to losing access to an essential part of reproductive health care in our country is a signal of a larger, persistent threat to our rights.

“Having the freedom to decide if and when we grow our family, how that family is defined, and how to care for them is fundamental to living the lives we choose. Abortion bans are detrimental to our health, our economic stability, and our ability to live a life of our choosing.

“We need more elected leaders who will fight for our freedom to make our own best choices for ourselves and our loved ones, and to care for our families with adequate support at every stage of life.”

Caring Across Generations is a national organization of family caregivers, care workers, disabled people, and aging adults working to transform the way we care in this country so that care is accessible, affordable and equitable — and our systems of care enable everyone to live and age with dignity. To achieve our vision, we transform cultural norms and narratives about aging, disability and care; win federal and state-level policies; and build power amongst the people touched by care.
