Care Can't Wait

In 2025 we mobilized across all 50 states to stand up for our care: growing our community online and in-person. From local communities to Capitol Hill, we brought our message and care stories directly to lawmakers. We provided briefings, letters, statements, and Care Fellow stories to educate lawmakers and staff on the real-world impacts of our care system—grounding policy decisions in lived experience. And in cities and states, like New Mexico and New York City, care advocates won groundbreaking victories—transformative policies that meet the unprecedented demand for care among working families.

2025 closed with CareFest, a three-day summit that activated the full creativity of the care movement—bringing caregivers, creators, and changemakers together to sharpen a shared agenda for a modern, affordable, accessible care system for this country’s 130 million caregivers.

We brought hundreds of advocates and people directly impacted by Medicaid cuts to the doorstep of Congress in two unprecedented, around-the-clock actions, while also sparking more than 1,500 actions online to defend Medicaid. For every hour of the vigils, legislators, advocates, and impacted families read aloud stories from the 2,500 submissions we received, holding space for the lives, care, and stability at stake from Medicaid cuts. During the 60-hour vigil, we deepened the action with a call-a-thon, advocate trainings, and artists who helped channel collective grief, rage, and resolve into visible, sustained resistance.

Our six-day tour visited nine cities, uniting over 1,000 care activists and gathering impactful stories, pushing for change, and advocating for better care policies across the nation.

Caring Across Generations and over 60 of our partners commissioned a study on care infrastructure which found that expanding access to quality childcare and community- and home-based care would spur job growth and ensure financial stability. The report also helped birth the Care Can’t Wait coalition.
