Together We Care, Together We Vote.

#WeCareWeVote

Hundreds of millions of older adults, disabled people, and caregivers face systemic barriers to voting, from inaccessible polling locations to lack of care coverage on election day. Helping people exercise their right to vote is a vital form of care – and critical to our democracy.

Why #WeCareWeVote

More than 40 percent of people in the U.S. provide unpaid care to an aging family member or disabled adult. Strict voter ID laws, limited early voting options, inaccessible polling places, and lack of support for parents and other caregivers can prevent millions of eligible voters from casting their ballots.

One in five disabled voters either needed assistance or had difficulty voting in 2022 — three times the rate of people without disabilities.

We’ve launched #WeCareWeVote to recognize and support the millions of family caregivers and community members who fill gaps left by our country’s patchwork care system and play a critical part in making voting more accessible.

Because as Creative Care Council member and Emmy-nominated actress Yvette Nicole Brown said,“We all need a little help sometimes, including to vote.”

Ensuring people can exercise their voting rights is an act of care — and essential for a healthy democracy.

You, too, can help by offering rides to the polls for people with limited mobility or transportation options, filling in for someone with care duties so they can go out and vote, or assisting people with fine motor skill challenges with ballot completion. Make your care + voting plan today!
