Statement: As Presidential Candidates Announce Campaigns, Care Must Remain a Top Priority

The Needs of Americans Are Clear: Care Must Remain a Top Priority

WASHINGTON D.C.—In response to President Biden’s reelection bid announcement, Nicole Jorwic, chief of advocacy and campaigns at Caring Across Generations, released the following statement:

“Care is the quintessential kitchen table conversation. Every family in America is talking about how they will care for their kids, or their aging, ill or disabled family members and loved ones. President Biden continues to prove that he not only recognizes the need to support families, but he also greatly understands how fundamental child care, paid leave and aging and disability care policies are to our economy. In fact, just last week the Biden Administration issued the largest set of executive actions for care in history that embodies the transformative policy shift millions have been demanding for years.

“It’s important that any presidential campaign continues to build on these successes and pass vital legislation supporting families — including policies and plans to strengthen the country’s care infrastructure.

“Caring Across Generations looks forward to hearing how candidates plan to prioritize investments in care and how they will work with Congress to finish the job and get everyone in this country the care they need and deserve.”

Caring Across Generations is a national organization of family caregivers, care workers, disabled people, and aging adults working to transform the way we care in this country so that care is accessible, affordable and equitable— and our systems of care enable everyone to live and age with dignity.

To achieve our vision, we transform cultural norms and narratives about aging, disability and care; win federal and state-level policies; and build power amongst the people touched by care. For more information, visit caringacross.org.
