Freezing federal aid will harm millions of families

WASHINGTON D.C. – In response to the Trump administration ordering all federal agencies to temporarily suspend payments, Nicole Jorwic, Chief of Advocacy and Campaigns, released the following statement:

“Rather than fulfilling campaign promises to support families, the Trump administration is busy playing political games with public dollars and pushing our country to the brink.

“Voters made it clear that they wanted costs, including costs of care, to be lowered – not have their public dollars held hostage. The chaos of freezing federal aid will cause direct harm to families across this country and take care away from millions.

“Our country’s families deserve better options and opportunities to care for themselves and their loved ones without worrying about losing their livelihoods. Our nation’s leaders must put families first and end these harmful attacks on life-saving programs.”

Caring Across Generations is a national organization of family caregivers, care workers, disabled people, and aging adults working to transform the way we care in this country so that care is accessible, affordable and equitable— and our systems of care enable everyone to live, work, and age with dignity.

To achieve our vision, we transform cultural norms and narratives about aging, disability and care; win federal and state-level policies; and build power amongst the people touched by care. For more information, visit caringacross.org.
