Bipartisan Budget Agreement Protects Medicaid for 21 Million People

WASHINGTON D.C. – In response to President Biden’s remarks last evening on the bipartisan budget agreement that protects Medicaid for 21 million people, Nicole Jorwic, chief of advocacy and campaigns at Caring Across Generations, released the following statement:

“We are thankful to have a president who is unwavering in his support for families and communities by refusing any cuts to Medicaid in the deal he negotiated this week to avoid default on our nation’s debt. Despite Republicans’ attempts to hold our economy hostage with proposals to cut Medicaid by over $100 billion, a move that would destabilize the program and take care away from 21 million older adults, disabled people, and children, President Biden and Democratic lawmakers insisted on a deal that protects Medicaid from cuts along with protecting Social Security and Medicare, recognizing that these programs are live-saving and life-giving.

“The Biden-Harris Administration continues to prove that they are doing everything within their executive power to protect and improve the care infrastructure in this country because they have seen the mounting need, heard our calls and know that the care movement across the country is growing every day. Caring Across Generations is proud to work with an administration who is so clearly dedicated to providing this country with the care we need and deserve.”
