Caring Across Generations Statement on FY 2025 Presidential Budget
WASHINGTON (March 12, 2024) – In response to the release of President Biden’s Budget Proposal, Nicole Jorwic, Chief of Campaigns and Advocacy at Caring Across Generations, released the following statement:
“Just days after President Biden asked us to imagine a future with affordable child care, paid leave, and aging and disability care during his State of the Union, he’s already put his words into action by proposing another historic budget that includes a clear commitment to care. President Biden is once again affirming his unprecedented focus and commitment of this administration to supporting our nation’s families.
“Due to the lack of paid supports in this country, family caregivers and care recipients tackle a myriad of physical and emotional needs every day, while navigating complex systems. They take it all on—managing appointments and medications, thinking through the hard conversations, navigating daily routines, arranging transportation, taking on home duties, going without the paid supports needed and so much more. This needs to change, and it needs to change now.
“The Biden Administration’s re-commitment to building a robust federal paid family and medical leave program, a strong child care system, transformative investments in aging and disability care, and a standard of fair pay for all care workers is powerful. These investments must become a reality in order to support families, strengthen jobs, improve our economy, lower costs, and save the lives of millions.”
