About Caring Across Generations:
Caring Across Generations (CAG) is a national campaign working to make care more affordable and accessible at every stage of life while ensuring caregivers – both family caregivers and professional care workers, people with disabilities, and aging adults are treated with respect and dignity.
Founded in 2011 by Sarita Gupta and Ai-jen Poo (who were the executive directors of Jobs with Justice and the National Domestic Workers Alliance, respectively), we take an explicitly intersectional approach to our work, connecting the dots between the urgent need to build a strong care infrastructure and the need for bold action on immigration reform, gender, racial, economic and disability justice, and addressing the growing needs of our aging population.
Our campaign is focused on creating change in three ways:
- Fighting for groundbreaking policy at the state and federal levels,
- Changing hearts and minds through pop culture, storytelling, cultural organizing, and
- Building a powerful constituency for care through online organizing and convening a powerful coalition of state and national care organizations and advocates to transform our nation’s care infrastructure.
Position Summary:
Caring Across Generations is seeking a savvy and experienced Digital Marketing Manager to help lead our digital culture change work with our Culture Change team.
As the Digital Marketing Manager, you’ll use digital marketing strategies and tactics to shift traditional attitudes that view caregiving as an individual problem, and move people towards thinking of it as a collective social responsibility with public solutions. You’ll be responsible for designing and optimizing multi-channel digital marketing campaigns and tactical pushes that work to shift cultural narratives and also help meet the organization’s digital growth goals. You’ll work with Caring Across staff and external content producers, artists, and influencers.
More specifically, you’ll juggle planned, responsive, and ongoing core digital work – and never miss a beat in seizing opportunities to insert our narratives into the cultural zeitgeist. You’ll drive data-driven, supporter-focused strategies that activate new and diverse audiences of people who give and receive care over time.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop digital engagement goals, benchmarks, strategy, and output plans with the Digital and Culture Change teams for short-term responsive projects and longer-term projects that are designed to shift attitudes and cultural norms and enhance Caring Across’s ability to grow, fundraise, and engage our supporters.
- Work with the culture change team from the very beginning of projects, campaigns, and events where they collaborate with storytellers, artists, producers, and advertising executives to co-produce and catalyze story content for mass distribution.
- Identify opportunities for high-impact, responsive projects that’ll excite potential and existing supporters and can be scaled into larger projects with stakeholders from across the organization.
- Make key decisions on digital output, with respect to expertise and insights from relevant team members or organizational stakeholders as well as testing and performance data.
- Follow and test best practices and narrative innovations for email, social media, mobile, web, action pages, partner toolkits, and online-to-offline mobilization.
- Produce digital supporter engagement campaigns and events that leverage pop culture influencers and care narratives to engage people from fan communities and in our target audiences.
- Leverage insights from the worlds of digital marketing to provide people with a vision of what this changed world could look like, and with creative and imaginative on-ramps to see themselves in that vision.
- Proactively communicate successes and learnings via quantitative and qualitative metric analysis and wrap-up reports.
- Collaborate with email fundraising staff to write appeals as needed.
- In collaboration with the culture change team and the social media manager, ensure cultural influencers and creatives are identified and assessed for strategic opportunities.
- Take on digital team projects and tasks as needed.
What great qualities do you possess?
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing, email advocacy, and/or digital organizing.
- Some knowledge of the conditions and experiences of family caregivers and/or seniors and/or a person with a disability experience navigating our inadequate care systems is a bonus. A sharp analysis of race, class, and disability justice resonates broadly to create culturally competent content.
- Some experience in culture change, social impact campaigns for TV or film, or cultural organizing is preferred. Interest and fluency in pop culture content are desired.
- Write in a clear and compelling way – whether through engaging online copy to motivate potential and existing supporters to take action across our channels or concise, informative updates to other staff members.
- The ability to identify responsive list-building opportunities and dream up bold, larger-scale efforts geared to grow our following and build our power through strategic supporter engagement.
- A track record of producing high-quality and accessible online content that has moved people to action.
- Solid understanding of digital tools and their application to organizing including but not limited to: Peer-to-peer texting, broadcast texting, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Zoom, Google Apps, Google Analytics, EveryAction/VAN preferred, any CMS (WordPress, Squarespace, etc), etc.
- Have a track record of using data and compiling digital analytics.
- Self-motivated, highly accountable to your team, and comfortable and effective working in a remote environment.
- Travel to quarterly staff retreats, occasional in-person meetings, events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
What we offer you in return and why you would love being a part of our team!

- 100% paid Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Short Term Disability. Long Term Disability is paid by the employee at a very minimal cost.
